
Brett is an educational professional with over 16 years of experience in the fields of school counseling and college guidance. During his tenure, he has completed externships with two university admissions departments, visited over 125 college campuses, and was honored as a Colorado Front Range League Coach of the Year. Growing up in a family of educators, he is passionate about the transformative power of finding the right post-secondary fit with you, the most important stakeholder.
Experience & Education
Brett graduated from the University of Scranton with a B.S. in Counseling and Human Services. During his undergraduate years, he worked evenings at the Home Depot as a lot attendant while graduating with Dean’s List honors. He holds a Master’s in Secondary School Counseling from Marywood University, working part-time as a therapeutic staff support in local elementary classrooms. Brett completed his doctoral studies at the University of Northern Colorado. For his research efforts, he was awarded the Dean’s Citation for Outstanding Dissertation by Graduate School faculty members.
Professional Memberships & Presentations
Dr. Fedor has been a member of the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC), the American School Counselor Association (ASCA), and a regional representative for the Colorado School Counseling Association (CSCA). He has presented at national and state conferences, including the Rocky Mountain Association for College Admission Counseling (2024), the American Association for Teaching and Curriculum Conference (2022), the Colorado School Counseling Association (2015), and the Colorado ACT State Organization (2014).
Professional Philosophy & Values
Brett prides his work on transparency, connectedness in the student-college planner relationship, and embracing the continued development of life skills during the college exploration process. The most effective college planners hold the ability to create flow and find the right environment for you, the student. If your overarching goal is to gain admission into an elite institution for the mere prestige and brand, Dr. Fedor has a comprehensive network of colleagues for reference; however, it’s likely that he is not the right fit for your post-secondary search. Regardless of your entry point into the high school-to-college search, Brett offers a highly personalized approach to reflect how you work best.
Outside Interests
In addition to being a college planner, Brett is employed as a seasonal wildland firefighter. He volunteers as a committee member for Oaxaca Youth Empowerment, and has completed an Ironman triathlon and a 100-mile ultramarathon. Most importantly, he lives for present moments with his wife and dog.
